Craig A. Monnett, age 69, unexpectedley left this world for his Heavenly home on Feb 5, 2021. Craig lived most of his life in Putnam County, the last 13 years at Heritage Lake. He attended Greencastle High School and graduated from Wentworth Military Academy. Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Glenn Monnett, and his two brothers, Dee and Marc. He is survived by Kathy (Masten) Monnett, his wife of 47 years, son Lucas (Ashley) Monnett, a first grandchild on the way and a little dog who adored him, Grady. Craig was often told he looked like Charlie Daniels, Grizzley Adams and most often Santa Claus. In December, wide-eyed children would often stare, especially if he was wearing red. Craig loved to wheel and deal. He would never pass a yard sale without stopping. If the asking price was 50 cents, he would offer a quarter. He enjoyed the art of the deal. He loved selling at yard sales and flea markets. He could sell you something you didn’t even know you needed. When a customer was walking away, he would sometimes offer to flip a coin…”double or nothing”. If he sensed you were down on your luck, he would probably just give it to you. Heritage Lake yard sales won’t be the same without him. Craig played Texas Hold-em when he could, but fishing was his passion. His calm, laid-back disposition made fishing a good fit. Any day he spent at the lake was a good day. A memorial service will be held Sat. March 6, 2021 at Bousley Funeral Home in Coatesville. Visitation begins at 1:00 PM and will end with a short service at 3 PM. Craig’s brother-in-law, Pastor Bobby Pell will be officiating. Mask are requires. Instead of flowers, please buy a fishing license. Take a kid fishing and reel in a big one in Craig’s memory. If he could, Craig would tell you “Turn off that cell phone. You don’t need it to fish”.
