Diane Elaine Crews, age 53, passed away in her lifelong home in Silver Springs, Maryland on November 25, 2016. She was born in Montgomery County Maryland on June 11, 1963. Diane was the second child of Thomas Wesley Crews and Deloris Jean Weber Crews. Diane’s brother, Randall Wesley Crews, proceeded her in death on August 18, 1995 at the age of 34. Diane's mother, Deloris, passed away on April 9, 2008 and her father, Tom, passed away on November 3, 2015.
Diane graduated from the public school for the mentally handicapped at the age of 21. She earned a small wage in a contract workshop for several years. Diane later attended the Arc of Montgomery County vocational program where she participated in their many activities. She took yoga and dancing which she especially enjoyed. Diane liked music, dancing and watching television, especially the arts programs. Eventually her lewy body dementia made it too difficult for her to travel to the day program. The Arc of Montgomery County provided in home personal support and live-in caregivers were added. Towards the end, Holy Cross Hospice assured Diane remained comfortable. Geriatric care managers, Compassionate Care for Seniors, assured Diane received the best one on one care possible since Diane's relatives were out of state. During Diane's final days they even put a small Christmas tree on Diane's dresser. Diane smiled as she looked at the colorful lights gently glowing in her room. Soft Christmas music played as those closest to Diane held her hands in support. Diane looked at their loving faces then peacefully closed her eyes to join the rest of her family. Several people referred to Diane as their little angel and now she truly is. Diane will be missed but her memory will forever remain in our hearts.
