Donald Wayne Brown, 75, of Coatesville passed away at his home on July 5, 2025. An avid gardener and lover of the outdoors, he left the earth in his favorite place, the back deck of his pole barn, overlooking his back yard, his garden, and the many trees he planted over the years. Donald was a graduate of Fillmore High School and attended college at Calvary College in Eastern Kentucky. Donald worked his way up through a successful career at Navistar International, starting out sweeping coal off of the foundry floor when he was 18 years old, and retiring as a Manufacturing Quality Engineer after more than 40 years of service. His loyalty to the company and his work ethic afforded him many opportunities and promotions. His duties allowed him to travel the world and to work in countries including India, Brazil, and China. However, despite his many travels, his favorite place to be was always home. Over the years Donald was known for having quite an impressive collection of motorcycles, cars, and boats. He loved to take his boat out fishing, and was quite the accomplished water skier at one time. His love for fishing was passed on to his children, grandchildren, and great-nephews who often looked to him as an expert fishing guide. Donald was of the generation of men who could do it all. He built his house, worked on cars, and knew how to fix just about anything. He was also an accomplished gardener, and everyone knew he grew the best tomatoes around. His garden often produced enough to give away to anyone who asked, and anyone who was lucky enough to get one of his tomatoes was a lucky person indeed. His love of gardening was passed along to his children, who still grow tomatoes from the same heirloom seeds he used in his own garden. One of the youngest of 12 children born to Anthony Wayne and Phoebe Sumner Brown, Donald could be counted on to drop in and visit his siblings often. He was known to host family gatherings, take his siblings garden vegetables, get them to doctor’s appointments, and check on them when they were sick. He is preceded in death by five of the siblings he loved, including Douglas Brown, Paul Brown, Rex Brown, Mildred Rogers, and Helen Lee. He is survived by siblings Jeanette Caudill, Cora Halcomb, Charlene Drakos, Joan Roberts, Roen Brown, and Harold Brown. Donald is survived by his wife of 14 years, Jussineia Brown. He is also survived by his children Stephanie Brown Cunnyngham (Beau Cunnyngham), Anthony Brown (Amanda Brown), Barry Brown (Tina Brown), Lorena Brown, and Brena Silva Cruz. They will greatly miss his daily phone calls, frequent advice, and honest opinions on life. Grandsons Thomas Cunnyngham, Will Cunnyngham, Hayden Brown, Layne Brown, and Jamison Strong will also greatly miss Papaw and his fishing trips, ice cream sandwiches, and frequent calls to check in. Services will be held at Bousley Funeral Home in Coatesville, IN on Friday July 11 with visitation starting at 10:00 am and the service starting at noon. We invite all family and friends to attend and be part of celebrating a life we loved so much.
