John P. Wampler, age 80, of Amo, passed away early Monday morning in the Mill Pond Nursing Home in Greencastle, IN. Born November 8, 1932 in Gosport, IN, her was the son of John W. Wampler and Lois (Allee) Wampler. He married Avery Hirt and she survives. John had served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for over 50 years in Home Improvement. He was a member of the Stilesville Christian Church and his hobbies included sitting at the Amo General Store and woodworking.

Survivors in addition to his wife include 3 daughters, Julia Matlock and husband Bill, Stilesville, Jennifer Greeson and husband Kelly, Amo, and Laura Ward and husband Bill, Amo; a son Jim Wampler and wife Cindy, Zionsville; grandchildren, Joshua Glaze, Brownsburg, Sarah Hibdon and husband Casey, Brownsburg, Cassie Greeson, Amo, Nicholas Greeson, Amo, Jason Wampler and wife Tess, W.Virginia, Hillary Tomblin, Amo, Mary Tomblin, Amo, Trent Tomblin, Amo, Zachary Wampler, Zionsville, and Bennett Wampler, Zionsville; 6 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His parents, son John W. Wampler, and brothers, Thomas, Don and Dave Wampler preceded him.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 6 Pm at the Bousley-Hays Funeral Home. Funeral services are at 6 PM in the funeral home with Pastor Shelly Zook officiating. Cremation will follow in inurnment will be at a later date in the Amo Cemetery
