John Bruce Stanley, age 72, Clayton, passed away early Wednesday morning at Hendricks Regional Health, Danville. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana the son of Joseph Henry and Juanita Ruth Main Stanley. He was a 1969 graduate of Cascade High School and attended Indiana State University. He had worked for the United States Postal Service for 9 years and then worked as a self-employed contractor doing remodeling, painting, and roofing. John was a kindhearted person who dearly loved his nieces and nephews and all children. He was Uncle John to many children. Whenever he was given a new school picture of one of the kids he would exclaim how much they had grown and that they need to start putting a book on top of their heads to slow them down. He could be very independent and definitely marched to the beat of his own drum. He was a walking encyclopedia of all kinds of useful and useless facts and was known for his witty jokes . He loved to drink his iced tea from a mason jar. Though he wasn't a religious person he was very spiritual. He is survived by his siblings - Sandra Hampton and husband, Dave, Brazil, Mark Stanley, Clayton, and Greg Stanley, Camby; his nieces and nephews - Craig Hampton and wife, Kelly, Muncie, Amanda Leitheiser and husband, Scott, Mohnton, PA, Jeremy Hampton, Brazil, and Meagan Taylor and husband, Rick, Clayton; great nieces and nephews - Phineas Hampton, Hank Hampton, Harper Taylor, Dottie Leitheiser, and Chandler Taylor;. He was preceded by his parents and infant brother. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Hendricks Regional Health for their kindness, compassion, and extremely professional help and expertise.
