Marilyn Gayle Wager, 88, of Greencastle, passed away on Aug. 21, 2018, at the Millpond Health Campus. She was born at home in Clinton Falls on Sept. 3, 1929 to Marion A. and Delsa M. (Thomas) Brattain. Marilyn grew up in the Clinton Falls, Russellville and New Market communities, graduating from New Market High School. She attended Minnesota Bible College in Minneapolis, where she met the love of her life, who she would spend 65 years of marriage with, Donald E. Wager. They were married on May 17, 1953 at the Russellville Christian Church. He preceded her in death on June 22, 2018. Together, Marilyn and Don raised two sons, Mark A. Wager (Cindy) of Greencastle, and Lynn J. Wager of Fillmore. Marilyn loved her six grandchildren dearly, Heather Huber (Jud) of Greencastle, Amanda Clearwaters (Jason) of Avon, Sarah Parker (Mark) of Fillmore, Rebekah Richardson (Brent) of Cloverdale, Jason Wager of Cincinnati, and Daniel Wager (Megan) of Greencastle. Marilyn adored her 10 great-grandchildren, Chance, Emma, Brett, Jenna, Zane, Heidi, Meredith, Audrey, Max and Natalee. Mom also leaves behind two siblings whom she loved dearly, Reita Bertsch (John) of Greenfield and David Brattain of Columbus, Ohio. In addition to losing dad 59 days earlier, Mom was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law Lesia Wager, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. After being a stay-at-home mother while the boys were little, Mom went to work for Taylor Graphics in Greencastle where she became a manager, mentor and friend to so many who worked there. Marilyn and Don were founding members of Greencastle Christian Church and poured out their lives in service for Jesus. Mom was a student of the Word. She blessed so many who were fortunate enough to have her as a Bible teacher. One of Mom's passions was to hunt the elusive "morel." We hope she continues to find them in heaven! We will miss her smile, wisdom, sense of humor, and love ... but rejoice at the reunion that took place with dad, because of their faith in Jesus. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25 at Greencastle Christian Church. Services will follow at noon. Burial will be at Clinton Falls Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Bousley Funeral Home, Coatesville.
