Mervin D. Simmons was born September 5th, 1943 to Delbert and Ruth (Johnson) Simmons in Hazelwood, IN and passed away August 3rd, 2022. From the day he was born Mervin was destined to be a farmer. His love of the land and animals was passed down to his children and grandchildren. Through 4H and working with Co-Alliance, Mervin would share advice and his passion for cattle and hogs. He served in the US Navy from 1965-69 in the Mediterranean on the USS Kankakee. Being a member of the Stilesville Christian Church he was able to care for people as well. He was an anticipated volunteer at the Stilesville Food Pantry where people would just stop by for a hug.
Mervin is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (McClellan); sister, Annice Wright; children, Jeanann (Darrell) Knoy, Dean (Rita Gabra-Collier) Collier; grandchildren, Cara (Dalton) Harbison, Alyssa Carter, Charles Jordon Collier, Kevin M. Collier; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Elkins; and sister, Charlotte Ann Johnsen.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 7th at Bousley Funeral Home from 2 PM to 6 PM. Service will be held Monday, August 8th at Bousley Funeral Home at 12 PM. Burial will follow at Stilesville Cemetery.
