Rita Faye Highsmith passed away on May 8, 2025. She was born on July 7, 1944, to Helen (Hahn) and Dale Sargeant in Linton, Indiana. Rita loved to sing and to garden, and she was known for her warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Helen Sargeant; her first husband, David Ruble (1992); her second husband, Charlie Highsmith (2019); her sister, Karen Lang; and stepsons Gerry and Doug Ruble.

Rita is survived by her son Tim (Annber) Ruble; stepchildren Terry Ruble, John Ruble, Rick Ruble, and Amanda Highsmith; grandchildren Bowen, Daisia, Annabelle, and Savana; and great-grandchild Estarossa.

Rita’s family has chosen cremation. Bousley Funeral Home was entrusted with her care.
