Roger West passed on December 7 after a long illness. Roger was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. An Indianapolis native, Roger earned a Finance Degree from Canterbury College in Danville, IN. Soon after, he hired on with the Inland Container Corporation where he worked 30 years, retiring to Clearwater, FL in 1990. Roger loved and will be missed by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Julia, brother, Quentin, and his daughter, Holly. He is survived by Eleanor West, his wife of 42 years; his son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Dawn West; grandson, Zachary Smith; brother, Douglas West; and sister, Sister Rachel West OSF. A livelong sports fan, Roger avidly followed professional and collegiate athletics, and was himself a scratch golfer in his prime. He loved to spark lively debates about politics and current events. The Panera and Dunkin’ Donuts at Sumter Landing won’t be the same without him. There will be a service on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Clayton Presbyterian Church with Pastor Deb Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Amo Cemetery.
