With hearts full of love and heavy with loss we share the passing of Travis Glen Melton of Avon, Indiana who left this world far too soon on October 1st, 2025 at age 40.
Born on May 21st, 1985, Travis was the beloved son of Margaret (Brad) White and Steve (Teresa) Melton, precious grandson of Christine Melton; and cherished brother to Ashley (Robert) Polly, Ashley Caudill, Josh (Jessica) Caudill, Steven Melton, Chelsea (Anthony) Fetz, Samantha (Jonathan) Tingle, Brandon White, Brittney Snow, and Josh White. His siblings shared in his many adventures and occasional mischief.
Travis' greatest joy in life was being a dad to his children - Haylee (Lukas) Dietz, Allie (Ezra Roush) Melton and Haiden Melton. He found immeasurable joy in being a Pop Pop to his grandchildren Klayton Dietz and Delilah Roush. They were the light of his life - every smile, laugh and memory shared with them was a treasure he held close.
He was a hardworking man with a stubborn streak and a heart the size of the great outdoors. Travis spent countless hours doing what made him happiest - building massive fires, fishing, spending time on the river, catching a dirt track race, and looking forward to Halloween activities each year. The 4th of July was always special to him, bottle rocket wars were always necessary, especially with his niece Kyrstin. He was usually accompanied in these activities by his immediate and extended family, which included many aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Travis was preceded in death by his grandparents Glen Melton, Barry and Grace Butler; loving stepfathers JT Caudill and Chris Mitchell; Uncles Danny Melton and David Butler; and grandson Josiah Dietz.
Travis never missed a chance to tell a story (whether you wanted to hear it or not). His laughter was contagious and would spread to everyone around. He will be remembered for his generous heart. Travis would give the shirt off his back to anyone who was in need. His loyalty to his family and friends was unmatched.
Travis leaves behind a family who will miss him fiercely, but remember him with smiles - the same way he would want it. While our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing he is watching over us, while holding his grandson Josiah, with a line in the water patiently waiting for the big catch.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 10th at Bousley Funeral Home from 11AM-1PM with his funeral at 1PM. Burial will follow at Hadley Friends Cemetery.
Due to this sudden loss, Travis' family has asked for donations to be made payable to Bousley Funeral Home to help with his final expenses in lieu of flowers.
