William Dale Cox of Greencastle passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on September 27, 2024. He was born on March 20, 1945 to Francis (Schmeltekop) and Tonny Cox. Bill was one of fourteen children. He enjoyed working on cars, painting and gardening. He was proud of the fact that he heated not only his own home with a wood burning outdoor boiler but also his garage and neighbor's home.
Bill graduated from Reelsville High School in 1964. He served his country in the National Guard for 6 years after graduation. In 1969, he married the love of his life Linda Porter. The couple would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in December. Bill worked as an outside fork truck driver loading box cars for General Motors. His coworkers called him "Wally". Bill also owned his own body shop for 20 plus years. Bill was a Union member of Local 23 and he retired in 2008 from GM after 38 1/2 years of service.
Survived by: wife Linda Cox, son Josh Cox; grandchildren Ivy and General; other children Rebecca, Billy, Brandi and 7 other grandchildren.
Bousley Funeral Home has been entrusted with Bill's care. Visitation will be held at the funeral home in Coatesville on Tuesday, October 1st 11AM-1PM, with service at 1PM. Pastor Steve Ransom will officiate. Burial at New Providence Cemetery will follow.
