Dorothy H. Stringer, age 81, of Amo, passed away Sat., Feb. 28. Born March 6, 1933 in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Hiram Keck and Moine (Crosby) Keck. She married Harold Stringer on August 12, 1949 and he preceded her in death in 1998.

Dorothy worked more than 35 years in human resources for P.R. Mallory, Shenandoah Industries and Lear Corp. She attended the Amo Baptist Church. Her favorite pastime was being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Grandma Great”.

Survivors include daughter Diana Ruark (Michael), Rockville; son Rick Stringer (Pat), Plainfield; four grandchildren, Jamie Simek (Michael), Plainfield; Ericka Patten (Derek), West Orange, NJ; Ryan Ruark (Sarah), Chicago, IL; and Christopher Stringer (Elizabeth), Plainfield; three great grandchildren; sister Doris O’Hair, Greencastle; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband, and brothers Ralph, Paul and Don Keck preceded her.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11 am to 2 pm at Bousley-Hays Funeral Home in Coatesville. Services will be held at 2 pm with Rev. Dave Marty officiating. Burial will be at the Stilesville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
