Jerry Lee Broadstreet of Fillmore, Indiana passed away at Mill Pond on August 24, 2026 surrounded by family. The staff at Mill Pond took excellent care of him and even went so far as to spoil him.
Jerry was born on April 24, 1935 in Fillmore to Juanita (nee Ray) and Elmer Broadstreet. He graduated from Fillmore High School in 1954. He began working for Jones Construction while in high school and continued there after graduation for a few years. He worked in the factories in Indianapolis and then International Harvester for a short time. But what he was most proud of was his construction and maintenance work at IBM. Jerry spent many years there until it finally closed. He was known for his construction skills, especially stone masonry.
In 1958, Jerry married Donna Unversaw. Their marriage produced 3 wonderful children: Melanie Broadstreet, Shelly (Tom) Hanlon, and Doug (Sharon) Broadstreet. The family continued to grow. Jerry leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, numerous step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, and many others who called him Grandpa. He always loved to hold the new babies. His family was his greatest joy.
Jerry loved to laugh. He was always silly trying to share laughter with others. He was an outdoors man. He loved to hunt and fish. He was known for his skill at spotting morel mushrooms. He was happiest outdoors. Jerry was also an active member of the Bethel Baptist Church. His truck had a mind of its own and always turned into the Wendy's parking lot so Jerry could grab a Frosty.
Bousley Funeral Home has been entrusted with Jerry's care and visitation will be held there on Saturday, August 29th, 11-1 with funeral service at 1. Pastor Nathan Couch will officiate. Burial will follow at the Bethel Church Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to the new Bethel church for a meal after service.
