John H. Porter, age 85, Stilesville, passed away Wednesday evening at the Ascension St. Vincent Heart Center, Carmel. He was born in Scottsburg, Indiana on December 29, 1937 the son of Malcolm and Ruth Atcheson Porter. He was married to Lenora Lasley Porter on August 30, 1964 and she preceded him on Dec. 29, 2019 after 55 years of marriage . He was a field underwriter for Farm Bureau Insurance Company and had worked in sales at Sears. John was a Commissioned Minister for the Christian Church – Disciples of Christ. He was a retired veteran of the US Air Force where he served in the Vietnam War. He attained the rank of Technical Sargent (TSGT). He was a member of Stilesville Larabee Masonic Lodge #131 where he had been Past Master and a 32nd Degree Mason. He was also a past member of the Scottish Rite of Indianapolis and was a member of the Toastmasters. He is survived by his son – Kenneth Trent Porter and wife, Dawn, Louisianna and daughter – Grace Loaren Sigler and husband, James, Indianapolis; grandchildren – Sierra Muehl and Ethan Sigler; brother – Paul M. Porter and wife, Nancy, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents and wife. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the Bousley Funeral Home, Coatesville, with Rev. Shelly Zook officiating. Burial will follow in the Amo Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM. There will be a Masonic Memorial Service at 4:30 PM. Contributions may be made to Amo Baptist Church in John’s name.
