Kieran O’Connor, 76, died peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on September 30, 2019. He was born October 20, 1942 and was the fifth child of thirteen born to Norbert and Doris O’Connor. He was an amazing man who lived a life full of rich experiences. He spent 35 years as an Indianapolis Firefighter retiring in 2007. He was owner along with his wife Elizabeth of Willowfield Lavender Farm (Mooresville) for the past 19 years. As a lover of life, people, children, birds, animals, wildflowers, nature, he shared his enthusiasm with others with countless stories always wanting each experience to be shared and remembered. He and Elizabeth planned and focused their entire married life of 41 years creating a haven for others on their 28 acres. He tore down barns, found artifacts and building materials with character, all in anticipation of building their unique handcrafted home. Together they created a special place to share with family, friends, and their farm guests. He and Elizabeth have three sons, Chris O’Connor (Cindy), Nate Grow (Peggy) and Darby O’Connor (Dana). One of their favorite roles in life has been as grandparents to 12 beautiful grandchildren: Chloe O’Connor, Addison O’Connor, Caleb O’Connor, Alice O’Connor, Henry O’Connor, Ethan O’Connor, Shalyn Grow, Gabriel Grow, Emma Grow, Lydia Grow, Declan O’Connor, and Daelyn O’Connor, and one great granddaughter, Eleanor Marinin.
He is survived by his 12 siblings: Judy, Michael, Kevin, Brian, Terry, Danny, Eileen, Timothy, Malachy, Margaret, Kathleen and Clare, and so many treasured nieces and nephews.
Among the many traits for which he will be remembered are his funny wit, his gift for storytelling, his fondness for all people, his beautiful poetry, his joy in singing, and his love of nature and all its glory. Together, with his wife, their life’s commitment has been to be instruments of peace and love throughout each day of their lives.
“Love life and others, it can be gone so quickly.” - Kieran
“Some are tempted to let their vessels constrain their spirits, but you are not one of those people, Grandad. Thank you for always being so generous with your spirit, a curious bird, always in flight.” - With abundant love, Emma (granddaughter)
Celebration of Life will be at Willowfield Lavender Farm on Sunday, November 3, from 2-5PM.
