Robert E. “Bob” Fuson, 95, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, September 10, 2017. Bob was born in Graysville, Indiana, on September 15, 1921, to Oasby and Gladys Huff Fuson. He graduated from Graysville High School and got a bachelor’s degree in education
from Indiana State University. He later got his masters degree from Indiana University. He married Ruth Robinson of Bridgeton, Indiana on July 15, 1945. They were blessed with 72 years of marriage. To this marriage was born a son, James Robert Fuson (Linda),
and two daughters, Brenda Sue Fuson and Kathryn Ruth (Tom) Hogan. He is also survived four grandchildren, Kristen (Mike) Birkland, John (Sara) Lundberg, Steve (Kristen) Fuson, Jeff Fuson; and six great grandchildren, Ryan, Kelsey, Elias, Brant, Brax and Elle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Doug Fuson.
He taught high school government and economics for 43 years. He loved to teach. After retiring he even went back to substitute in the class room for another ten years. Besides teaching, sports were his passion and especially Indiana basketball. He coached for
over 20 years. Not only did he love the game but he took a personal interest in his boys and followed them in later years. He also coached baseball for many years. He loved his grandchildren and spent many hours watching them in their sports and school activities.
He was so very proud of them and of the great grandchildren. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lot of his leisure time working in the yard with flowers and garden. He was a member of the Amo United Methodist Church where he had been a Sunday School teacher,
Chairman on the Board and held many other offices. He was a 50 year Master Mason of Plainfield Lodge #653 and a member of the Plainfield Easter Star#414. He was a past Worthy Patron of Coatesville and an Associate Bethel Guardians of Jobs Daughters in Clayton.
He and Ruth delivered Meals on Wheels for 30 years. He was a member and past president of the Hendricks County Retired Teachers Association. After retirement, he and Ruth took on a new hobby – traveling. They not only visited all 50 states, but traveled overseas
when it was easy to do. They visited all seven continents – including Antarctica, and took loads of pictures. Returning home they showed slides and gave travel talks to many school and community groups. Friends and family will gather for visitation on September
16 in the Amo United Methodist Church from 10 am until time of services at 12 pm. Celebration of Life services will be held with Pastors Mike Torrance and Ray Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle. Arrangements entrusted
