Ruth Ann "Patty" Drook (need Patten), age 91, passed away on June 10, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on August 28, 1934, in Monrovia, Indiana, Ruth lived a life marked by compassion, resilience, and a joyful spirit that touched all who knew her.
Ruth dedicated her professional life to helping others as a drug and alcohol counselor at the Veterans Administration. Her work reflected a deep commitment to service and healing, offering support and guidance to those navigating some of life's most difficult challenges.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life -- especially animals. From her youth on the farm surrounded by playful kittens to her later years spent with her cherished feline companion "PITA", Ruth's love for animals remained constant and heartfelt.
Ruth was known for her ever-present smile and spontaneous dance jigs that brought lightness and laughter wherever she went. Her joyful energy was infectious -- a reminder that even in the face of hardship, there is always room for joy. As those who knew her fondly say, she danced her way into heaven.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Barbara Drook and son Robert Drook. She was preceded in death by her son Kurtis Drook.
