Virginia C. Hanks, 81, of Fillmore, passed away peaceably on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, Hendricks County Hospital. Ginny was born Apr. 30, 1933 in Mt. Meridian to Albert Truesdel and Garnet Tincher Truesdel. She married Alfred R. “Buck” Hanks Apr. 23, 1950, and he preceded her in death on January 23, 1997. Ginny enjoyed reading, attending festivals and casino road trips. She was also very interested in Putnam County, and family, history. Ginny was a devoted mother, granny and Aunt Gin-Gin. She said, “My kids have always been my life, and I’m glad.” Surviving are her daughters, Debbie Wachal and husband, John of Greencastle, Janet Caldwell of Fillmore, son, Tony Hanks and wife, Cynthia of Greencastle, and daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Hanks of Fillmore, three grandchildren, Stacy Buechler, Angela Jackson [Donnie], Freddie Hanks [Kim], two step-grandchildren, Rob Heller, Tina Valentine [Dane], as well as several great, and great-great, grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Fred Hanks, a grandson, Steven Caldwell, son-in-law, Brian Buechler, and her sister, Sonia Pickett. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 18 at the Brick Chapel Cemetery, 3547 N. U.S. 231, just north of Greencastle; Pastors Paul Taylor and Mike Vauters, officiating.
